NOx Modules |
Description: |
ECM offers three NOx modules:
- NOxCANt: Suitable for all engines and combustion systems.
- NOxCANg: Suitable for engines and combustion systems that operate lean of stoichiometric (i.e. Lambdas greater than 1). Most diesel engines and gas turbine engines fall into this category.
- NOxCAN: Suitable for engines and combustion systems that can operate rich, at, and lean of stoichiometric. This module has been upgraded by the NOxCANt although the NOxCAN is still available for installations that have standardized on the NOxCAN.
The modules output NOx, AFR (air-fuel ratio), FAR (fuel-air ratio), Lambda, Equivalence Ratio, %O2, and pressure (with optional pressure compensation). All measured and system-related parameters are available via CAN (Controller Area Network) communication. Compact multi-channel (multi-cylinder) systems can be easily built by stacking NOxCANs giving remarkable insight into the fueling of an engine (MCDC Kit). Optional displays (dashCAN, dashCAN2, dashCAN+) are available.
dashCAN2 and dashCAN+ generate analog outputs from the CAN output.
The modules differ by their NOx sensor and control electronics. All sensors come pre-calibrated, and can be user-calibrated. ECM offers factory sensor re-calibration service.
To verify the proper operation of a module, Sensor Simulators are available. Sensor Simulators are precision current and/or voltage output devices that attach to the module in place of the sensor(s) and simulate the sensor(s) in use. If the module is operating correctly, these precision signal(s) from the simulator should result in expected module outputs.
ECM supplies PC configuration software to set up (ex. recalibrate) the modules. This software comes with the modules and is also downloadable here. A CAN-to-USB adapter is required to use this software. ECM recommends P/N 13-02 as the adapter. If you have a Kvaser, ETAS, or Vector CAN-to-USB adapter, you can use it.
Instructions on how to integrate ECM’s CAN modules with ETAS INCA and ATI Vision are available.
